S & T Undergraduate Scholarships
In accordance with Republic Act No. 7687, or the “Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994,” capable and deserving students whose families’ socioeconomic situation is below particular cut-off values for certain indicators are given scholarships. The study of basic sciences, engineering, applied sciences, and the instruction of mathematics and science must be prioritized among other disciplines of study for those who qualify.
The S&T Undergraduate Scholarships Program seeks to encourage young Filipinos to pursue rewarding careers in science and technology, ensuring a steady and adequate supply of qualified S&T professionals who can fuel the country’s advancement. Students who exhibit an extraordinary grasp of science and mathematics are awarded the DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship Program, formerly known as the NSDB or NSTA Scholarship under RA No. 2067.
Junior Level Science Scholarships
The goal of Republic Act No. 10612 is to improve science and technology education in the country by accelerating the development of graduates in the sciences, mathematics, and engineering. The Junior Level Science Scholarship (JLSS) Program has two goals: provide scholarships to deserving students in their third year of college who are pursuing degree programs in science and technology; and ensure a consistent and sufficient pool of qualified S&T professionals who can contribute to the advancement of the nation.
Accelerated Science and Technology Human Resource Development Program (ASTHRDP)
The Department of Science and Technology—Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) has announced the availability of scholarships for eligible male and female individuals who wish to pursue Master and Doctoral programs in priority areas of Science and Technology (S&T) through the Accelerated Science and Technology Human Resource Development Program (ASTHRDP). The fundamental goals of the ASTHRDP are to improve the country’s worldwide competitiveness and capacity for S&T innovation and accelerate the production of highly trained human resources needed for R&D in the field of Science and Technology.
Capacity Building Program in Science and Mathematics Education (CBPSME)
The Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) offers scholarship opportunities for eligible male and female candidates to pursue Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Science and Mathematics Education through the Capacity Building Program in Science and Mathematics Education (CBPSME). This is in collaboration with the National Consortium in Graduate Science and Mathematics Education (NCGSME).
The program’s goal is to improve the quality of science and mathematics education in the country while also accelerating the production of many specialists in the field of science and mathematics education.
Engineering Research and Development for Technology (ERDT)
The Engineering Research and Development for Technology (ERDT) network is a collaborative network of eight prestigious universities in the country that offer Master and Doctorate degree programs in a variety of engineering disciplines.
The consortium members of ERDT are the following:
- Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU)
- Central Luzon State University (CLSU)
- De La Salle University (DLSU)
- Mapua University (MU)
- Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT)
- University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD)
- University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB)
- University of San Carlos (USC)
The scholarship program has several goals, including the implementation of high-impact research initiatives that are aligned with the Philippines’ development plans, the cultivation of a significant number of graduates with advanced engineering degrees, the advancement of qualifications for practicing engineers, the improvement of engineering college quality, and accessibility to graduate engineering education, and the promotion of a culture of research and development (R&D) within the country.
