CEBU, Philippines — June 3, 2026: The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) announced that a new OFW Lounge will open this month at Mactan-Cebu International Airport, bringing government services closer to overseas Filipino workers in the Visayas.
OWWA said its team recently arrived in Cebu and met with project partner Aboitiz InfraCapital to prepare for the launch. The facility is being opened under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and under the guidance of Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac.
What is the OFW Lounge in Cebu?
According to OWWA, the lounge is designed to give OFWs a comfortable and convenient space as they travel through one of the country’s busiest international gateways. The goal, the agency said, is to make support and services more accessible to migrant workers who pass through Cebu.
What to Expect
The new lounge will also house an OWWA e-Card facility. This will allow members to obtain their e-Card on-site and access the agency’s various benefits and programs more easily.
Much like the previous locations, the area will offer:
- Comfortable seating
- Wi-Fi access
- Charging docks and power outlets
- Information Desk for inquiries about trips
- Online community for OFWs to connect with one another
- Various resources, tips, and information related to working experience in a foreign country
Third OFW Lounge Under the OWWA Care Program
OWWA noted that this will be the third OFW Lounge it operates under the OWWA Care program. It follows the existing lounges at NAIA Terminal 1 and NAIA Terminal 3 in Metro Manila.
The agency extended its gratitude to First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and Cebu Governor Pam S. Baricuatro for their support of the project, which aims to improve the welfare of Filipino migrant workers.
OWWA encouraged OFWs to watch for the opening of the OFW Lounge at Mactan-Cebu International Airport later this June.
