Any legal document, particularly an Affidavit of Support & Guarantee (ASG), that is to be used in the Philippines but has been filed in Canada must be acknowledged by the Philippine Consulate General for it to be accepted in the Philippines.
The Philippine Consulate General is located on the 999 Canada Place, Suite 660, Vancouver, BC V6C 3E1, where OFWs residing in Vancouver can apply for ASG. In PCG Vancouver, notarial services are available ONLY by appointment.
The approval of a visa or entrance is not reliant upon the existence of an ASG. ASG serves as a kind of form for the documents needed for getting a visa. Filipinos who get family support or who plan to visit relatives in Canada are typically asked to provide ASG by Philippine Bureau of Immigration (BI) officials.
