The Overseas Workers Welfare Association (OWWA) is a membership organization and a Department of Labor and Employment affiliated agency (DOLE). It protects and promotes the welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families both domestically and overseas. This is when being a member of the OWWA helps a lot.

If you are an OFW and a resident in Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor, or Negros Oriental, the nearest OWWA office is in OWWA Region 7. The OWWA is a specialized agency that protects and upholds the rights of OFWs wherever they are in the world, as well as monitoring the Pinoys working in different parts of the world.

OWWA payments, which include emergency welfare benefits, are available to OFWs. The membership fee for the OWWA will be equivalent to $25.00 USD, and it must be renewed every two years.

On another note, you can easily renew your OWWA membership by going to a One-Stop Service Center for OFWs (OSSCO). Located at the 2nd floor Government Express Center, inside SM City Cebu, North Reclamation Area, Mabolo, Cebu City, you can visit the OWWA counter and pay your OWWA right away. You just have to wait in your queue when you visit the site.
